A trend this year in Shanghai is for the Japanese Cremia dessert, which is hailed by some as the most delicious form of ice cream ever. Technically it is a ‘softcream’ and not ice cream, despite its appearance. “Fresh” Hokkaido 12.5% Cream makes up 25% of its contents. It is served in a cookie cone. For 25rmb, picked one up at KFC. Initially thoughts was that it was like eating whipped cream (better then Ikea’s powdered whip cream ice cream). However it started to melt, with only slight pressure on the cone, it cracked and was almost lost. However a cup was retrived by the helpful staff and so the cone was transferred into the cup. The cone is a sweet cookie, which I guess is to counter the non-sweet state of the Cremia. Better then a Yogurt Cone from McDonald’s, but not by much. I luckly had a bottle of japanese black tea with me and started to experiment. Wow, the results was good, it was like a creamy latte. So I mashed up the cremia as much as possible, poured in my black tea and was able to get through the cremia experience.
