Yangpu Bridge (杨浦大桥) is a twin towers (pylon; 223m high; seperation: 602m) semi-fan cable-stayed bridge (32 pairs on each side of tower, total of 256; with a max. length of 330m) which supports its longest span of 602m (span1: 99m, span2: 144m, span3: 602m, span4: 144m, span4: 99m) out of a total 1088m (total bridge length is 8354m). It is composed of steel-reinforced concreete. It has a width of 30.35m and connects the Inner Ring Road (Ningguo Road) between Puxi and Pudong over a distance of 1172m. Three lanes of traffic in each direction (total 6 lanes) offers service to over 100,000 vehicles per day, plus a 2 meter sidewalk on each outer side. The deck is 48 m above the surface of the Huangpu river.
Designed with expert advice from Holger S. Svensson (1945-) by the Shanghai Urban Construction Design Institute, Shanghai Urban Construction Design Institute and the
Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute. Construction was done by Shanghai Huangpujiang Bridge Engineering Construction company. It is said to be either a rainbow or Dragon spanning across the Huangpu. It cost 259 million (US) dollars and was opened in October, 1993.
